FREE TAX PREPARATION

Where/When: The Fremont Family Resource Center in Caribbean Room, #H830; Fridays 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. through April 18.

Why Go: It may not be fun, but take advance of this free tax preparation service by IRS-trained volunteers for Tri-City households who made $49,000 or less in 2010.

Where/When: Smith Center at Ohlone College, Fremont; Saturday at 8 p.m.

Why Go: The event offers over 100 Scottish fiddlers, harpists, drummers and dancers together on one stage to create a musical sensation that pulls people out of their seats.

Pricing: $15-$20

MCCONAGHY HOUSE THROUGH THE EYES OF WOMEN

Where/When: McConaghy House in Hayward; Saturday at 4 p.m.

Why Go: Learn about the women of McConaghy House on a special tour focusing on Sarah McCaw McConaghy, Mary McConaghy and Florence Smyth McConaghy. The tour includes information on immigration history, social activities for women, Victorian decorating and the hard work women did around the house.

Pricing: $5 adults; $3 seniors/students; free for Hayward Area Historical Society members

4TH ANNUAL UNION CITY SPORTS CENTER'S 5K/10K FUN RUN & WALK

Where/When: Union City Civic Center’s parking lot (34009 Alvarado Niles Rd.); Sunday at 9:30 a.m. (check-in time at 8 a.m.)

Why Go: Get the whole family to participate in in the family fun run and walk. Choose from the 5K/ 10K Fun Run & Walk, the Children’s 1 Mile Race, or the 5K Stroller and Pet Walking.

Pricing: $20-$25 (UC residents receive a $5 discount); registration closes on Friday

ONE-MAN SHOW

Where/When: James Logan High School Center for the Performing Arts; Sunday at 2 p.m.

Why Go: Support Logan’s percussion and colorguard programs while enjoying Wayne Harris, an actor and playwright based in San Francisco, who will present his highly acclaimed one-man show, The May Day Parade.
