Where/When: Union Landing (Ticket/info booth in front of Starbucks); Thursday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Why Go: Kick-start your weekend early with a taste of Union City. The event allows participants to sample items from 15 different restaurants at Union Landing. Click on the event link above to see all participating venues.

Where/When: Newark Pavilion in Newark, Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a live show at 7:30 p.m.

Why Go: Meet your favorite wrestling all-stars and check out vendors from throughout the nation.

Pricing: $5 for convention general admission. $15 for live show. $89 for a convention superticket.

ASIAN AMERICAN HERITAGE FESTIVAL 

Where/When: Southern Alameda County Buddhist Church, Union City; Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Why Go: Sample foods from other cultures and enjoy live ethnic performances performed by visiting performers and local residents from Taiwan, Japan, the Philippines, Thailand, and other Asian Pacific countries.

Pricing: Free

CSU EAST BAY SPRING FEST 2011

Where/When: Pioneer Amphitheatre at CSU East Bay, Hayward; Saturday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Why Go: The event will feature Grammy nominated singer and rapper Ryan Leslie, music producer and DJ Diplo (M.I.A., Major Lazer), the Ying Yang Twins, new wave-inspired rapper Theophilus London and rising LA rap sensation Kendrick Lamar.

Pricing: $5-$25

OHLONE COLLEGE CHAMBER SINGERS CONCERT

Where/When: Smith Center at Ohlone College, Fremont; Saturday at 8 p.m.

Why Go: This is the final concert of the year featuring choral music in Arabic, Hebrew,  Latin, and English expressing a universal theme of living in peace and  harmony around the world.

Pricing: $10-$15; parking $2
