Why Go: Celebrate three years of "lattes and laughs" at Paddy's Standup Showcases. Hosted by Molly Sokhom, the special anniversary event will be headlined by comedian Liz Grant and will feature surprise guests.

Why Go: Check out cool classic rides as local senior citizens proudly display their vintage cars and trucks. The event will also include oldies music, refreshments, a BBQ fundraiser, raffle prizes and more.

Where/When: 39900 Balentine Dr., Newark; Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Why Go: This two-day Anime convention will feature numerous events, including a Cosplay Contest, fashion show, Live Anime improv, Karaoke contest, fan art competition, live band performances, a zombie run, a game of velcro ninja, an Anime charity date auction and more. Price: $40 for full weekend registration; $25 at the door for Saturday; $20 at the door for Sunday

Where/When: , 39375 Cedar Blvd., Newark; From 10 a.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday

Why Go: Come and support your neighbors who are raising money for cancer research and awareness this weekend. The event is free to attend. In addition to the relay walk/run, there will also be a number of on-site fundraisers, entertainment and special events, including a luminaria ceremony for those who have passed away from cancer. (Union City's Relay for Life will be held Aug. 25 and 26 at James Logan High School.)

Where/When: Niles Town Plaza, 37592 Niles Blvd., Fremont; Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Why Go: Catch Union City indie rocker along with rockabilly band The Blue Diamond Fillups and a solo set by songwriter Maurice Tani in historic downtown Niles. Bring the entire family, have a picnic on the lawn and participate in fun-filled activities such as potato sack races. The event will also feature food vendors, or you can grab a bite nearby at any of the local eateries.
