1. HOLIDAY SHOPPING IN NILES

Where/When: Downtown Niles, Fremont; all day Saturday and Sunday

Why Go: Participating stores located in Fremont’s Niles district will offer discounts. The Niles Main Street Association will have a drawing in which three winners will be awarded $100 gift certificates. To see a full list of businesses in Niles, click here.

2. CHRISTMAS CRAFT FAIRE

Where/When: Newark Pavilion, 6430 Thornton Ave., Newark; Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Why Go: The first annual craft faire at the Newark Pavilion promises to have a variety of handcrafted gifts on sale just in time for Christmas. There is no admission fee and the snack bar will be open with items available for purchase.

3. SANTA AT THE FREMONT HUB

Where/When: Fremont Hub Shopping Center (main courtyard by Ulta), 39100 Fremont Blvd., Fremont ; Saturday from noon to 2 p.m.

Why Go: Hang out with Santa at the shopping center. Bring your camera and take photos with Santa. There will also be face painting, balloon twisting and more.

4. KRISTMAS KRAWL BIKE RIDE AND TOY DRIVE

Where/When: Love At First Slice, 36601 Newark Blvd., Newark; Saturday from 7 to 10 p.m.

Why Go: Join Santa and the Kruz3r Mob bicycle club on a family friendly ride through Newark and see holiday decorations. The ride will be followed by a gathering at Love at First Slice to collect unwrapped toys for Toys for Tots.

5. VIOLA BLYTHE TOY DRIVE

Where/When: Red Robin, 1031 Newpark Mall, Newark; Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Why Go: Donate toys for Viola Blythe's annual Children's Christmas Party, which serves more than 400 children. Newark firefighters will be at the toy drive to collect the toys.
