Get Out: Free Zion I Concert; Logan Takes on De La Salle for Division I Title

1. STAGE 1 PRESENTS "A CHRISTMAS CAROL"

Where/When: Stage 1 Theatre, 39375 Cedar Blvd., Newark (at Newark Memorial High School); Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

Why Go: Don’t be a Scrooge! Celebrate the holiday season by heading out to Stage 1 Theatre’s rendition of A Christmas Carol: A Play with Carols. Directed by Newark Memorial High School Alumnus Brian Allan Hobbs, the show is a classic one that is appropriate for the entire family

2. ANNUAL NEW HAVEN TOY DRIVE AND CAR SHOW

Where/When: James Logan High School, 1800 H St., Union City; Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Why Go: Help spread the holiday cheer by donating new, unwrapped toys (of at least a $10 value) for children in need. The toy drive benefits the Alameda County Toys for Tots and Samaritan House Family Shelter. The event will also feature about 200 cars on display from the ATS Garage and Plus 1 car clubs.

Price: Free

3. HOLIDAY COOKIE AND CARD DECORATING

Where/When: Newark Library, 6300 Civic Terrace Ave., Newark (at Newark Memorial High School); Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m.

Why Go: Get a head start on your holiday treats by decorating cards and cookies at the Newark Library.

Price: Free

4. LOGAN VS. DE LA SALLE FOR NCS DIVISION I TITLE

Where/When: Dublin High School, 8151 Village Parkway, Dublin; Saturday at 7 p.m.

Why Go: Cheer on the Logan Colts as they try to end perennial champ De La Salle's hot streak in the North Coast Section Division I championship football match. The Concord school has won the last 20 championships, but the Colts (12-1) and star running back Warren Miles Long might just knock them off their high horse. If you can't see the game live, the game will air on cable TV on Comcast SportsNet California. Read more about the Colts and their amazing season here.

Price: $10 for adults and $7 for students. Tickets are on sale at the main office ticket booth at James Logan High School during lunch and throughout the school day in the main office.

5. FREE HIP-HOP CONCERT AND CLOTHING RELEASE PARTY

Where/When: 37800 Central Ct., Newark; Sunday starting at 2 p.m.

Why Go: Celebrate the release of local clothing brand Rogue Scholars with an all day hip-hop festival featuring Bay Area legends Zion I along with Ruby Ibarra, Armani Cooper and more. The show is all ages and sponsored by other local clothing brands such as City League, Below the Surface, Wolves Den and more.
