  • Where/When: Ralph and Mary Ruggieri Senior Center, 33997 Alvarado Niles Rd. in Union City; Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Why Go: Local senior citizens will proudly display their vintage cars and trucks. The event also includes music, refreshments and a BBQ fundraiser.
  • Pricing: Free

  • Where/When: 39439 Paseo Padre Parkway, Fremont; Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Why Go: Get a taste of Indian culture and flavor. The festivities include a grand parade (Sunday only), a dance competition, Bollywood singers and a cultural program, along with a health fair and 130 booths offering clothes, arts and crafts and food.
  • Pricing: $5

15th Annual Cajun/Zydeco Festival

  • Where/When: Ardenwood Historic Farm, 34600 Ardenwood Blvd., Fremont; Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Why Go: Get a feel for Louisiana soul. The event features Cajun/Zydeco music and dancing, along with Cajun and Creole cuisine, vendors and more.
  • Pricing: $22 for adults, $5 for youth age 4-15, free for children age 3 and under

Shop 'Til You Rock

  • Where/When: NewPark Mall, Newark; Saturday from 1 to 6 p.m.
  • Why Go: Take a back-to-school, music-inspired mall tour. Teens will be invited to participate at various stations — including a Just Dance 2 station, a station to design your own airbrushed apparel and more — and watch Thomas Fiss perform.
  • Pricing: Free


  • Where/When: Southern Alameda County Buddhist Church, 32975 Alvarado Niles Rd., Union City; Saturday — food sales begin at 5 p.m., Obon dance begins at 7 p.m.
  • Why Go: Honor the spirtis of the departed with this lively event that features Buddhist dancing, Japanese music, a taiko drum performance and Japanese foods. A spiritual service will also be held Sunday at 10 a.m.
  • Pricing: Free
