  • Why Go: Newark police will bag your groceries and escort you to your car in exchange for tips, which will be donated to the Special Olympics and the Northern California Law Enforcement Torch Run.

  • Why Go: The musical set within contemporary Los Angeles' brutal gang culture will feature a live rock and roll band, a chorus of hip-hop and salsa singers and dancers, and hand-painted murals and Latino artwork.

  • Pricing: Free, though a $10 donation is suggested for adults, a $7 donation for seniors and students 12-18, and a $3 donation for children.

  • Why Go: Children and teens ages 5 to 18 can try out for Stage 1's newest theatrical production, "The Wizard of Oz."
  • Pricing: Free to audition; $250 per student to participate in the production ($150 for each additional student from same family).
