East Bay Park Beaches Open Saturday for Swim Season

Swimming is allowed only when lifeguards are on duty.

There are plenty of swimming opportunities for you in the East Bay Regional Park District, with six open-water lakefront beaches, three chlorinated lagoons, two pools and two bay shoreline beaches.

The park closest to Union City is Quarry Lakes Regional Recreation Area at 2100 Isherwood Way in Fremont. The park is ideal for families with small children, who will enjoy splashing in the shallows and playing on the sandy beach.

Quarry Lakes is home to the Horseshoe Lake swim complex, which features a sandy beach, a bathhouse with vending machines and lifeguard service. The lake is open year-round and swimming is allowed at your own risk within a roped-off swim area when lifeguards are not on duty. Beach wheelchairs are available for free at on a first come, first served basis.

The swim areas is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends and holidays from April 30 to June 17, and daily from June 18 to Aug. 21 with lifeguards on duty.
