- This Valentine’s Day, you can do something special for someone you will never meet by donating during the . The , 31224 Union City Blvd., in collaboration with the American Red Cross, will host a blood drive on Feb. 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Log on to www.redcrossblood.org and schedule your appointment by entering your ZIP code or the Sponsor Code: UCSPORTS. - Roberto Moreno, 21, who last year pled guilty to manslaughter in at a house party, is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday morning for his sentencing. He is set to appear at the Hayward Hall of Justice at 8:45 a.m. Moreno, a gang member, was 17 at the time of Yifru's slaying.
- Also scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday morning is , the man charged with sexually assaulting a 2-year-old child at the Dollar Tree store in December 2010. Ramos, 36, is scheduled to enter a plea at 9 a.m. at the Fremont Hall of Justice. Originally set for Dec. 6, 2010, the hearing has been pushed forward three times.
- Parents may want to check out New Haven Unified School District’s on Feb. 16. This workshop will be held at NHUSD's Educational Services Center, 34200 Alvarado Niles Rd., from 6 to 8 p.m. Call 510-476-2610 for more information.
- What better way to get over the mid-week slump than taking part in Dodgeball Nights at the Union City Sports Center on Feb. 16. The winter session continues every Wednesday night through March 2 from 7 to 9. This program will resume with its spring 2011 session beginning March 30 and continuing through May 4.
