On Monday, July 16, 37 volunteers converged on to join forces with the to eradicate graffiti.
Union City Leisure Services Leaders in Training (L.I.T.) provided the muscle, and Union City Public Works’ Graffiti Buster provided 18 gallons of recycled paint. In less than four hours, the railroad corridor behind the park looked good as new!
The Leaders in Training program is designed to train youth to be more successful recreation leaders. L.I.T.s are assigned to a Union City Leisure Services Camp or Park and Playground program site. Prior to their assignments, the L.I.T.s participate in a one week intensive training course and they work closely with leaders to put their training to use in the supervising and leading the activities with campers.
Their hard work and dedication make a huge impact in the lives of the campers, leaders and with each other. The growth they have shown this summer has far exceeded all expectations by leaps and bounds.
Great work, Leaders in Training!
