Viewfinder: Running on a Rainy Day

Participants braved the weather for Union City Sport Center's 5k/10k Anniversary Fun Run & Walk.

Despite the weather, there was no rain delay for the 's annual 5K & 10K Fun Run, held on Sunday, March 6.

The steady drizzle didn't hinder the more than 100 runners' positive attitudes and determination. Adults, children, and even a dog, paid no mind to nature's obstacle as they navigated a course from City Hall, along the Alameda Creek Trail and back.

Twelve-year-old Alex Sokol was the first to cross the 5K finish line with a time of 20 minutes and 52 seconds. Runners were placed in different age divisions; Sokol placed first in the male 12 and under category. Union City Mayor Mark Green, 58, placed first in the male 55 and up category with a time of 27 minutes and 42 seconds.
