PG&E crews have restored power to all but a few dozen customers in Union City and Fremont after a car hit an electrical pole and caused an outage earlier this morning, a utility spokeswoman said.
The collision was reported at 3:35 a.m. near the corner of Mission Boulevard and Daggett Avenue in Union City, according to police.
The collision interrupted service to about 286 PG&E customers, knocked power lines into the street and caused a small fire, police said.
Firefighters responded and quickly extinguished the fire.
Power was restored to all but about 80 customers by 9:15 a.m., PG&E spokeswoman Jana Morris said.
All customers were expected to have power fully restored later this morning, Morris said.
